Washington Explores Patriot Co-Production as Ukraine's Intercept Shortage Deepens

Washington confirmed on Friday (2026-08-07) it is exploring joint production of Patriot interceptors with Ukraine and European partners, a shift that reflects how far allied stocks have been drawn down since Russia intensified its ballistic missile campaign. US officials stressed the immediate priority is getting air defense capabilities to Ukraine before the winter heating season — from whatever allies still hold surplus interceptors, through accelerated production, or both.
