Egypt's solar push hinges on gas displacement as Scatec targets $400M annual LNG savings

Scatec ASA's Obelisk solar and battery storage project in Egypt can save the country as much as $400 million a year in liquefied natural gas imports, according to Chief Executive Officer Terje Pilskog. The roughly $600 million development pairs solar generation with storage, a configuration Egypt is counting on to displace gas-fired power at peak demand hours.
