NYMEX WTI front-month futures fell 5.88% to $79.77 per barrel in early Asian trading on 2026-08-03 after President Trump called off another round of military strikes on Iran, oilprice.com reported, raising expectations that a diplomatic resolution to the Strait of Hormuz standoff was back in play. By mid-afternoon on 2026-08-03, the contract had recovered to $79.73 per barrel.
