States Push Back on FERC Plan to Expand Blanket Gas Pipeline Permitting

More than a dozen states and the District of Columbia filed protests against a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission proposal to broaden the types of natural gas pipeline projects that qualify for streamlined review exemptions, according to a Rigzone report dated July 28 (2026-07-28). The protests arrived roughly two months after the rulemaking was first floated, giving the docket its first serious opposition on record.
