Petrobras Squeezes Record Output From Buzios as 2027 Pipeline Tests Brazil's Supply Ambitions

Petrobras is producing above the designed capacities of offshore platforms at the Buzios pre-salt complex and other deep-water fields, pushing Brazilian crude output to a record high as the Iran war reduces competing supply from the Gulf, Rigzone reported on Thursday (2026-07-30). Running platforms beyond their nameplate limits is a common tactic in tight markets. It extracts barrels quickly, but it compresses the buffer that engineers build in for equipment rotation and unplanned outages.
