Alpine Hydro Inflows Halved by Drought as EC Flags SE Europe Power Emergency

Reservoir inflows across the Alpine arc (Austria, Switzerland, France and northern Italy) were running nearly 50% below the 15-year historical average as of Thursday (2026-08-06), OilPrice.com reported, with Swiss hydro output set to remain constrained for the near term. The data place the Alpine system inside a wider drought that has already pushed spot power prices sharply higher further southeast.
