U.S. wholesale diesel futures surged 26% through July (2026-07-28), even as ICE Brent crude front-month eased to $79.42 a barrel on Tuesday (2026-08-04) following signals of de-escalation in the U.S.-Iran conflict. The divergence is striking: crude is softening on geopolitical relief, but the product markets underneath it are moving in the opposite direction.
