That framing supports the idea that even if the week-2 heat event breaks, it gives way to a warm autumn rather than a seasonal reset. MJO in Phase 7 (amplitude 1.1) will propagate toward Phase 8 over the next 2-3 weeks before either dissipating in the western Pacific graveyard or sustaining into a Phase 1-2 re-emergence. The latter would bring an enhanced convective pulse to the Indian Ocean in weeks 3-4, potentially strengthening the monsoon and modulating the El Niño interaction in the tropical Pacific. In summer, MJO Phases 7-8 carry a weak climatological signal toward anticyclonic conditions over Europe, consistent with and marginally supportive of the ridge persistence story.
