Weather Daybreak Update, Saturday, July 11, 2026
The 00Z did not touch the core European trading story: NW Europe is warm now, cooler in week 2, and the transition is intact across both runs. Where it moved was in the details of the second week, and those moves are small enough to read as noise rather than a new signal.
00Z vs 12Z: What Shifted. The near-term heat is locked. Day-5 warm anomalies remain saturated: London and Paris both at 100% probability of a >1sd warm departure, London holding a 92% shot at >1.5sd, Paris 89%. Frankfurt sits at 94% and Amsterdam 98%. None of that has meaningfully budged overnight, the ridge that has Paris at a week-1 mean of 28.5C and London at 22.3C is a settled feature. The action is at day 10, where the cool-down probabilities eased slightly rather than built: Amsterdam's day-10 cold-anomaly odds sit at 29%, Frankfurt at 37%. Those are soft numbers, and the EC46 week-2 means back them up, Amsterdam 19.6C, London 20.1C, Frankfurt 21.4C, Paris 22.6C. That is cooler than week 1's ridge but nowhere near a cold intrusion; it is a return toward seasonal norms, and the 00Z nudged it marginally the warm way.
The sharpest overnight revision is not European at all. New York's back-end took a clear cut: Jul 19 max down 4.3C to 30.8, Jul 20 max down 3.4C to 29.8, and the Jul 19 mean off 3.0C to 25.0. That trims the East Coast CDD tail heading into the third week. Front-end US cooling demand is unchanged and still enormous, New York at 86 CDD over 15 days, Philadelphia 101, Dallas 206, Phoenix 270, so the revision is a late-window softening, not a break in the heat.
Run-to-Run Momentum. The European signal that matters is convergence, not direction: the models have now spent several runs agreeing that week 1 is hot and week 2 relaxes, and the 00Z reinforces that rather than reshaping it. Paris is the cleanest illustration, a 28.5C week-1 mean collapsing to 22.6C in week 2, with the ensemble band widening from ±2C to roughly 19-27C. That widening is the honest read: confidence is high on the ridge breaking down, low on how far the cool-down runs. Do not treat the day-10 cold flicker at Amsterdam and Frankfurt as a trend, it eased overnight, and one run of softening probabilities after a settled pattern is noise until a second run confirms it.
The US East Coast move has more claim to being a trend. Two consecutive nudges lower on the Jul 19-20 New York window, both in the 3-4C range and both in the same direction, is the pattern of models converging on a cooler solution for that period rather than a single-run spike. Watch whether the 12Z extends it.
On wind, the only power-relevant motion is a Shanghai jump, Jul 11 gusts up 8.9 km/h to 50.9, Jul 12 up 8.3 to 48.7, which is a China coastal story, not a European one. NW European wind stays limp: Frankfurt averaging 10.8 km/h over the week, Amsterdam and London near 17. With the ridge parked overhead, low-wind, high-solar is the setup, and nothing in the 00Z changes it.
Bottom Line. The 00Z does not change the trading picture from the 12Z. The European story is still a hot week 1 giving way to a seasonal week 2, with the models converging on the transition and diverging only on its depth, the marginally warmer day-10 tilt overnight is not enough to trade. The one revision worth carrying into the 12Z is the New York back-end cooling for Jul 19-20; if the next run extends it, the East Coast CDD tail into week 3 is softening for real. Otherwise, watch whether NW Europe's week-2 ensemble band starts to narrow, until it does, the depth of the cool-down is an open question, not a position.
