The 00Z run sharpens the story the 12Z already told: a hot ridge owns Northwest Europe this week, then folds back toward normal in week two. The change overnight is one of degree, not direction, and it skews warmer at the front end.
00Z vs 12Z: What Shifted
The headline revision is Amsterdam. The 00Z lifts Jun 25 max by 4.1C to 34.1C and the daily mean by 3.8C to 27.9C, then carries the heat overnight into Jun 26 with the minimum up 5.0C to 23.9C and the mean up 3.0C to 29.7C. That is a meaningful warming of the peak, and it pulls the Low Countries into the kind of tropical-night profile that drives evening cooling load rather than just afternoon spikes. Paris was already locked hot and stays there, with Tuesday through Thursday running 32.1 to 32.5C and roughly 10 CDD a day. Frankfurt holds 27 to 31C across the week. London builds to 29.5C by Wednesday before easing Friday.
Two cooling tweaks are worth noting but neither breaks the pattern. Tokyo's Jun 22 max came off 3.2C to 25.0C, and Frankfurt's Jul 01 max was trimmed 3.7C to 25.7C, which sits in the week-two relief window the models already favor. Wind stays the bearish-for-renewables piece of this: Frankfurt averages just 1.8 m/s (8.8 km/h) through the period with a peak near 2.6 m/s, Amsterdam 2.2 m/s, Paris 2.0 m/s. A hot, still anticyclone means strong cooling demand against thin wind generation.
Run-to-Run Momentum
This is the second straight run pushing the week-one ridge hotter over the near-continent rather than flattening it, and the ensemble backs the deterministic move. At day five, every NW European city shows a 100% probability of a warm anomaly beyond 1 standard deviation, and Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Paris all carry a 100% chance of exceeding 1.5sd. That is not a borderline tilt; the spread has collapsed onto the warm side for the back half of this week. Confidence in the heat itself is as high as this product gets.
What is equally consistent run-on-run is the week-two cooldown. The day-ten warm probabilities fall back to 27% at Frankfurt, 33% at Amsterdam, 35% at Paris and 38% at London, and the EC46 weeklies show the same cliff: Amsterdam steps from 24.9C in week one to 19.2C in week two, Frankfurt 27.8 to 21.2, Paris 29.4 to 22.0, London 25.2 to 19.7. The Frankfurt Jul 01 downgrade is consistent with that transition arriving on schedule rather than slipping. So the 00Z is best read as a confirming run on a two-part pattern: amplify the near-term heat, keep the early-July reset. The temperature revisions are a single-run intensification of an already-agreed ridge, not a new regime; the wind downgrades across Oslo, Tokyo and the Australian sites are scattered and do not form a coherent trend.
Outside Europe the picture is quieter. New York stays benign and unsettled, running 21 to 23C with repeated rain days and almost no cooling demand. Japan is the one to keep on the radar later: Tokyo's near-term trim is noise, but the EC46 ramps Tokyo from 22.1C in week one to 24.4C and then 26.6C, with Osaka and Nagoya on the same upward path, so JKM-relevant cooling load builds after this week, not during it.

The 00Z does not change the trade so much as firm it up. NW European power keeps a clear demand-plus-low-wind setup through Friday, and the 00Z makes the peak hotter and the nights warmer in the Amsterdam corridor, which is the marginal addition to cooling load. The models are converging, not diverging: high agreement on a hot week one and high agreement on a week-two cooldown, with the disagreement confined to exactly how fast the ridge breaks down. Watch the 12Z for two things specifically. First, whether the day-ten warm probabilities keep eroding or stabilize, since a stall there would push the heat deeper into the month and extend the demand window. Second, any sign the wind field lifts on the back of the week-two pattern change, which is what would relieve the renewables squeeze. Until one of those moves, treat the near-term as locked and the early-July reset as the base case.
